A retired Colorado professor was recorded having an angry meltdown after a proposed Turning Point USA chapter was approved at a college.
Former Fort Lewis College anthropology professor David Kozak was seen reacting angrily after the Associated Students of Fort Lewis College voted in an emergency meeting to approve a TPUSA chapter. The association had previously rejected a student’s proposal to register the group, which drew backlash.
Kozak was recorded flipping off a camera and calling TPUSA supporters “Nazis,” adding “F*** the Nazis.” He continued, “Go on, fascists. Go on, Nazi lovers.”
In a statement to Fox News, a spokesperson for Fort Lewis College said that Kozak had retired from the university. “Mr. Kozak retired from Fort Lewis College in 2022 and is no longer employed by the institution,” the spokesperson said. “At Fort Lewis College, we remain committed to fostering an environment grounded in academic excellence, free expression, and civil discourse.”
Approval of the TPUSA chapter followed weeks of controversy. Senior Jonah Flynn had previously proposed registering the group, but was rejected. A petition launched last month by members of the college community gathered hundreds of signatures from people claiming the TPUSA chapter should not be approved because TPUSA “has engaged in actions that directly harm our community.”
“At a college where many students identify as Indigenous, students of color, LGBTQ+, or from other underrepresented backgrounds, this harm cannot be ignored,” the petition claimed. “We are calling on Fort Lewis College to take action that prioritizes student safety and well-being by refusing to recognize the TPUSA chapter as an RSO.”
The denial led to a counter-petition that received more than 1,000 signatures. The student government then reversed course and approved the chapter earlier this month.
