Report: The IRS is Buying Bullets

In an interview with Breitbart news, House Representative Matt Gaetz revealed to listeners that the IRS has been buying up ammunition, and lots of it.
According to Gaetz:
“Just between . . . March and June 1st [the IRS] spent about 700,000 dollars purchasing ammunition . . . There is concern that this is part of a broader effort to have any entity in the federal government buy up ammo to reduce the amount of ammunition that is in supply, while at the same time, making it harder to produce ammo.”
The information comes from USAspending.gov, an online service that provides information on how institutions are using taxpayer funds.
Ammo prices skyrocketed in 2020, and have maintained a high price point since. This is due to multiple factors that were already identified by the public, such as “nationwide ammo shortages, unprecedented demand, record gun sales, a disrupted supply chain and an international fight over copper,” as observed by Forbes.
But could the IRS be contributing to the problem? It is a serious possibility, and a concerning one at that.
