REPORT: Nearly 5 Million Illegal Immigrants Have Entered the US During President Biden’s Term

The number of people ignoring our country’s border and illegally crossing is unprecedented and has only further increased since President Biden took office. Two studies including FAIR and The Center Square recently found that nearly 5 million people have entered the United States illegally over the past two years — a record-setting number.

The Center Square report stated, “roughly 5 million people from over 150 countries have entered the U.S. illegally, according to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol data and border agents who provide ‘gotaway’ numbers to The Center Square.” Border Patrol refers to individuals who willingly entered into the United States illegally as ‘gotaways’ due to their evasion of law enforcement. “While [Customs and Border Patrol] collects ‘gotaway’ data, it does not report that information publicly. The Center Square obtains that information from border agents themselves.”

Additionally, the Center for Immigration Studies reported on the number (disclosed in Biden v. Texas) of illegal immigrants who have been caught and released into the interior of the United States under the current administration — not including CBP’s (Customs and Border Patrol) “getaway” count — the number on record is “1,049,532 — a population larger than the number of residents in the president’s home state of Delaware, at a rate of 2,115 per day.” The number of single adults crossing the border has also skyrocketed since 2020. Law enforcement has also already encountered “66 individuals on the terror watchlist along the U.S.-Mexico border during Fiscal Year 2022,” according to a report by the Daily Caller.

Communities along the border have been overrun for two years. The influx of people is draining resources, especially in rural areas, where police and fire rescue are pulled away from the tax-paying citizens of the town to care for people who made the dangerous journey in life-threatening conditions to our southern border.

Some short-term solutions for border community relief have been enacted by Arizona Governor Doug Doucey, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Recently, the two states have begun bussing migrants to ‘sanctuary cities’ New York and Washington D.C. due to the cities’ commitment to protecting illegals from detainment and deportation. Arizona has also constructed a makeshift border wall out of shipping containers in Yuma, a border town that has seen an almost 300 percent increase in crossings since 2021, according to Daily Mail

In short, we are still experiencing a crisis at the border, people’s lives are at risk in many ways, from human trafficking rings, violent drug cartels, to the harsh desert landscapes. Encouraging people to make the treacherous journey is inhumane.

Thankfully, the Biden Administration has quietly restarted construction of the border wall along key gaps throughout Arizona. Hopefully, we can begin to get this problem under control, but as cooler temperatures approach, many expect a higher number of people attempting to make the trek.
