The majority of trans-identifying inmates in Wisconsin women’s prisons have been found guilty of a sex crime, according to an investigation by the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project.

Oversight Project recently revealed data from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections data that shows more than half of biological men who are housed in women’s prisons have been convicted of sex crimes. Among the 161 biological men who identify as female, 81 of them have been convicted of sex crimes including rape, forced sexual contact with a minor, tempting a minor, incest, and more.

One high-profile case is that of Mark Campbell, now identifying as Nicole Campbell. Campbell, who was convicted of sexually assaulting his daughter, was sentenced to 34 years in prison. Despite his conviction and the nature of his offense, Campbell was placed in a women’s prison while awaiting a taxpayer-funded transition surgery. A U.S. Appeals Court ruled in favor of Campbell’s request for the surgery, citing a potential violation of the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.

The practice of housing inmates based on their gender identity rather than biological sex has gained traction despite its obvious dangers and absurdity. Last year, news broke of a transgender inmate in New Jersey, who was convicted of manslaughter, impregnating two fellow inmates. The incident occurred just one year after the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey petitioned to have transgender-identifying inmates be housed with their so-called “gender identity.”

It is unfortunate that feminists who constantly speak out about “protecting women’s spaces” are silent when it comes to the issue of violent male criminals being housed among biological women.
