Did you know that if the government thinks you are a threat, they can remove your right to have weapons? That’s right, and no, there is no such due process.
In SEVENTEEN states and Washington D.C., if the government believes that you are a liability with a gun, they can take your guns and keep them for extended periods of time.
While the idea behind this legal action stems from the government wanting to protect people from hurting themselves or prevent people that are deranged from getting guns, the consequences of these “Red Flag Laws” are SCARY. These 17 states have handed their people the constitutional rights over to what the local government thinks is a threat.
First of all, our right to bear arms is clearly stated to be the muscle that prevents the government from doing this kind of tyranny.
Secondly, I don’t know about anyone else, but leaving my rights to the government’s interpretation does not sound like the kind of protection that I want.
This is precisely the reason why the Founding Fathers wanted to protect our rights to bear arms. As Americans, we have to be careful when the government says they want to “protect us” they just might be hurting us.
