Last September, TPUSA Students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette held their first-ever Freedom Rally to protest the enforcement of the Covid-19 vaccination on campus and in the community.
When the news broke that UL at Lafayette intended on adding the Covid-19 vaccine to the list of vaccination requirements for all students enrolled in classes, potentially jeopardizing the future college careers of countless students, TPUSA students quickly took action.

Katherine LeCompte, TPUSA Campus Coordinator at Louisiana State University at Lafayette, spoke out against forced vaccinations and what TPUSA was doing to actively push back against unprecedented vaccine mandates. LeCompte also explained the unnecessary power-grab being exercised by the administration against its own students.
“Turning Point USA at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has been speaking out against the forced vaccinations on campus. Exemptions are being accepted, but there is such a large number of students submitting them why even mandate it?
— Katherine LeCompte, TPUSA Campus Coordinator at Louisiana State University at Lafayette
The Freedom Rally featured three speakers and hundreds of people who attended. Through this rally, students were able to amplify their concerns with the authoritarian vaccine mandate their university, like many around the country, have been implementing.

University students from all different backgrounds attended the rally, and LeCompte commented on the united front of the university population who just wanted their own right to medical freedom.
The university has not been tolerant of the students that are disagreeing with their vaccination decisions. The rally we hosted brought a large number of college students and members of the community together to show the university we will not back down when it comes to our medical freedoms.”

TPUSA students at UL at Lafayette are role models to conservative college students everywhere. A college university is a minefield for conservative students, and it’s easy for a student with these values to feel alone. A TPUSA college chapter is an excellent place for these students to come together with like-minded peers. When conservatives are given the opportunities to come together, they can make real change on campus and promote the values we continually advocate for: freedom, free markets, and limited government.
