A pro-life student group at the University of Southern Maine says it has faced repeated harassment from other students, including an online threat that referenced the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Students founded Huskies for Life on campus in the fall, with assistance from Students for Life campus formation coordinator Matthew Gozzi. In an article published on the organization’s website, Gozzi wrote that “Two separate demonstrations were planned before the group had even hosted its first official meeting.”

According to a report by Campus Reform, pro-abortion students began posting hostile messages about the group online, including on the anonymous social media app Yik Yak. One post stated, “[T]hese Charlie Kirk enthusiasts gotta be careful don’t they know what happened to that guy[?]”

The group’s Instagram posts were also targeted. A post featuring a pro-life graphic drew comments such as “gross” and “f***ed up.” Other comments included “[W]ishing rabies upon your family” and “Sending hateful prayers.”

Students for Life of America president Kristan Hawkins addressed the situation in a post on X, writing, “Our Students for Life group at the University of Southern Maine was hit with an anonymous Yik Yak threat that even referenced Charlie Kirk’s assassination. As someone still grieving my friend, it’s heartbreaking, but it also shows exactly why we must keep going. Our students won’t back down, and neither will I.”

In comments to Fox News, the University of Southern Maine said campus police would be involved and would investigate those responsible if the identities of the posters are discovered.
