Hurry and get out the world’s smallest violin: Hollywood is feeling the BERN! JK, they are feeling the effects of President Biden, though. After simping for President Biden and his far-left economic policies, Hollywood got exactly what they asked for. Now, with inflation at record level highs and climbing, production studios are getting a taste of their own medicine.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “key supplies needed to build sets have shot up 10 percent in recent months as studios grapple with ballooning budgets.” As a result, TV and movie sets are costing a fortune to build with plywood, glass, steel, and paint, costing in some cases 3x as much.
“While most production executives say they’re mainly facing delays and have not yet reached the point where they’re unable to get their hands on materials, many acknowledge that the current estimates they’re receiving for key supplies are about 10 percent higher compared with even just a few months ago. ‘We’re having to pay the premiums,’ says one major studio’s top production exec.”
Production companies and networks are also having to endure the massive Covid-19 costs that come with running a production “safely.” Most, if not all, production companies are still Covid testing once to twice a week while rapid testing in between. Between Covid testing costs, PPE costs and the regular costs of production, production companies are feeling it where it really hurts….. their wallets.
