Pink’s Scathing Message to Pro-Life Fans

Singer-songwriter Alecia Beth Moore, better known as Pink or P!nk, made headlines this past week, not for a number one hit (let’s be honest she hasn’t had one of those in a long time), but because of her fiery message to her would-be fans: “Pro-life Americans, never f****** listen to my music again!”
In her last five years of performing, Moore has branded herself as a representative of the modern feminist movement. As the artist P!nk, she made her mark in the music industry for her songs which celebrated social rebellion, rowdiness, chaos, and so-called female empowerment. One of her more well-known songs, “Slut Like You” which includes the lyrics “I’m not a slut, I just love love. Tell me something new cause I’ve heard this. Okay I’ll **** you.” This is clearly very empowering for women everywhere, and shares their struggles and hardships in a genuine and artistic way.
Her scathing tweet received thousands of critical comments, including “Who are you?” and “Stunning and brave! Telling the fans who made you rich to f*** off. But only after they’ve made you rich. #PinkCourage.”
Though the pop singer’s music endorses a life of recklessness, self-medication, binge drinking, and chaos, Moore is the wife of former Motocross racer Carey Hart and mother of two children. The couple has been happily married for nearly seventeen years — her personal life appears to be the antithesis of all radical feminist messaging. How is it that Moore’s song lyrics promote modern feminism that makes a mockery of marriage and chivalry, while also being a married wife and mother?
It’s fascinating that a celebrity who is seen as a staple of the feminist movement is also the spitting image of a happy nuclear family. Modern feminism tells women that marriage is a prison, masculinity is toxic, traditional gender roles are misogynistic, and children are not necessary for happiness. Moore is telling fans, though her radical support of abortion, that they should live licentious lifestyles and denounce their children, the results of that promiscuity, because it will “empower” them — while she does the exact opposite in her own life.
The obvious hypocrisy she examples, by promoting a progressive, destructive lifestyle to fans while she enjoys the benefits of tradition, is not only disappointing, but disgusting.
