Turning Point Faith Contributor Pastor John Amanchukwu – known for his public stance against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and LGBTQ ideologies in public education – opened his AmericaFest 2024 speech with an exaltation to the name of Jesus and thanked Turning Point USA Founder and CEO Charlie Kirk for inviting others to come alongside him the culture war.
Pastor Amanchukwu has traveled to 18 states defending children against gender theory and critical race theory. He said he’s taken three main things away from his travels, “Number one, perverts are perverting the hearts and the minds of our children. Number two, parents are unaware of what’s going on in the public school system. And, number three, pastors have failed to speak up and to defend boldly the family, in particular, the nuclear family.”
Within the first category, he also said there are three things a person can be at this moment: a punk, a pervert, or a protector. He said, “I believe now more than ever, God is calling forth the church to be protectors.” He went on to say the three things American pastors need are a jawbone to speak up, a backbone to stand up, and a tailbone so they can hold up under the pressures of opposition.
Pastor Amanchukwu said he is on a quest to reduce inflation, secure the borders, and school choice for all families. However, he said these are not the only responsibilities that Americans have and that he’s largely concerned about the soul of the nation.
He further declared that God was looking for brave men and women who were unafraid to face opposition on the battlefield of society. One battle Pastor Amanchukwu constantly comes against is gender ideology. He stated life begins at conception and that doctors do not “assign” a baby’s sex at birth but that “God does this because He is a divine architect and the one who creates life.“
Pastor Amanchukwu stated that he also believes the ideological warfare that permeates the culture is one of the primary means of dividing the Christian church on topics that he said many have “grown weak and wimpy” on in the public sphere. He said weak pulpits make weak Christians, especially when pastors refuse to preach the truth. He believes there is a remnant of believers who are drawing a line in the sand on these moral issues.
Pastor Amanchukwu said over the past few years he has been assaulted and arrested by law enforcement just for taking a stand against perversion. In October 2024, he also released his first documentary film chronicling his journey and how America’s school systems changed once prayer and Bible reading were removed.
Pastor Amanchukwu made it clear that he has no intentions of backing down or staying quiet while lies prevail in the culture. He declared the Bible to be the ultimate truth that will set everyone free, and that “we don’t have to allow the woke left to shut us up, de-platform us, and cancel us. We have the truth and the truth is not in the donkey party. The truth is not in the [elephant] party. The truth is in the word of God.”
He encouraged the audience to not fear but to trust God to use their life for His glory while we wait for the return of Jesus Christ.
