This weekend I took a young girl, Kinley (13 years old), hunting for whitetail. She has never harvested a buck before, and when I reached out to Craig at Hargrove Hunts out of west Texas, he gladly welcomed us into camp and made the trip possible. West Texas free range whitetail is a coveted experience, and I thought it would be the perfect place to take her for the first time!

I am a massive advocate for introducing the next generation to the outdoors because it’s future depends on them! There have been surveys report hunting numbers are on the decline, and I’m doing everything I can to create fun and exciting opportunities for children everywhere.

According to an article from “The Know Outdoors,” hunters have declined 2.2 million since 2011, bringing the total number of hunters in the U.S. to 11.5 million in 2016. Along with declining numbers in hunters, the average age of hunters is also increasing.

It is essential to include the next generation and create opportunities for them to experience the great outdoors! If we want to see the age-old tradition of hunting and pursuing the world’s beautiful and wild countrysides, we have to act now. Join me and get a kid outdoors this year, whether hunting, fishing, camping, or even hiking-you won’t regret it!
