Today, we’re investigating the Eanes Independent School District in Austin, TX, where a lawsuit was recently filed by a district parent claiming the district violated the Open Meetings Act. The parent who filed suit claims the District Superintendent and school board members secretly met to hire a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultant, Dr. Mark Gooden.
The suit alleges the district hired Dr. Gooden without any notice to parents or room for public comment.
With diversity serving as the strongest buzzword driving the future of education, it’s hardly surprising the district would do such a thing. Meanwhile, in the era of labeling outspoken parents “domestic terrorists,” hiring a diversity consultant without parental comment seems to be the direction of the new normal.
