Open Floodgates at Southern Border Wall Allow Thousands to Enter Into AZ

Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has taken responsibility for the open floodgates along the southern border wall, a move that has allowed several thousands of migrants easy entry into the United States.

114 floodgates located in the Tuscon sector of Arizona were welded open at the direction of CBP, Border Patrol’s “parent agency,” to prevent Border Patrol agents from closing them, according to the New York Post. The Post reported that agents had attempted to close the floodgates repeatedly “in a bid to stop people from being able to cross the border,” leading to the parent agency’s decision to weld the gates open.

United States Border Patrol (USBP) told the New York Post that the department “makes the final decision on opening gates based on operational conditions and forecasted weather,” and CBP later clarified that the gates are opened during monsoon season to prevent the wall from collapsing.

“High water flow combined with excessive sediment and debris buildup can stress or comprise the design integrity of the barrier,” the department told The Post. “Once the rain or flood event is over and the debris and sediment are removed, the gates can be closed and secured.”

Cartels have taken advantage of the access points by leading thousands of migrants to the open wall in massive numbers, leading to 42,561 migrant encounters in July alone.

Contradicting CBP’s narrative, Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Union, said “In my opinion and in the Border Patrol agent’s opinion, those gates should never come open.”

“Judd believes the agency higher-ups who made the decision should be ‘hammered’ for not only allowing illegal immigrants in, but endangering agents’ lives,” The Post reported.

Since 2021, millions of illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. through open sections of the unfinished border wall, overwhelming border towns and large sanctuary cities alike.

To make matters worse, the border wall has remained unfinished for several years, and unused materials have been stored in the Southwest for $130,000 daily, according to the Washington Examiner. The federal government has spent nearly $47 million a year over three years storing the materials. To re-coup this money, the White House quietly began auctioning off these uninstalled border wall pieces for what U.S. Senator Joni Ernst described as “pennies on the dollar.

“Auctioning site GovPlanet has already sold 81 lots of ‘square structural tubes’ out of Arizona for $2 million. On Wednesday, the site will sell almost 1,000 lots more, and on Aug. 30, it will sell over 600 lots more,” the outlet reported.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this organization.”
