NYC Is Awful. This Is What Leftists Want For America.
New York, you had a good run, but from what I’ve seen over the past few days, I’d gather that run has come to an end. I came to NYC to live 12 years ago with the same dreams and stars in my eyes as millions of other young people had before me. Thankfully, in my early days of NYC, I lived under “independent” leadership, which means policies that were commonsense, pro-business, and generally took facts – not feelings – into account when dictating policy. It’s sad to say that New York City has now been overrun with leadership that is more concerned with what leftist college students say on Twitter than what the actual taxpaying adults here think are the main issues with this city.
Even before COVID-19, the quality of life in New York City was dwindling. The trash piled-up; the homeless population became more numerous and aggressive, nearly everything seemed to get exponentially more expensive while the quality sank. Now, it’s even worse.
In the past 48 hours in New York City (I’m unfortunately here for work and meetings this week), I’ve seen an enormous pile of human feces on the street, seen people looking at each other with deep suspicion while wearing masks, and noticed in real-time how mediocre restaurants have jacked up their prices 30-40% while they hustle New Yorkers desperate for any semblance of normalcy to pay upgraded prices for downgraded food quality.
If NYC had low vitals before, it’s now on life support. It’s sad to see this once great city go out like this, but let this be a lesson to those fleeing NYC and attempting to take the same leftist ideals: it doesn’t work. If NYC is ever to succeed again, it’s because its citizens rose, stood up to leftism, and went about the business of promoting ideas for REAL life, not a leftist utopia.
Have you been to NYC recently? If so, what did you think? If you haven’t been, will you ever visit?
