NYC Announces Vaccine Mandates
New York City became the first city in America to announce sweeping vaccine mandates, saying both employees and customers for indoor dining, gyms, and movie theaters will be forced to provide proof of vaccination. The announcement from Mayor Bill de Blasio comes on the heels of Broadway sharing they would require proof of vaccination and masks to attend plays moving forward.
New York state has already administered 23 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and has seen 57.3% of the state’s population become fully vaccinated. More vaccines have been given in New York than any other state in America–so what is driving the need for vaccine mandates and proof of vaccination now?
Fundamentally changing our society and violating personal privacy and medical autonomy rights is not progressive–it’s regressive. New York City may be the first to make such sweeping changes, but they certainly will not be the last. With universities, corporations, and now major cities mandating proof of vaccination to live a normal life, it is easy to see how those who choose not to become vaccinated for COVID-19 may face a new reality, becoming second-class citizens in the time of mandatory vaccines.
Medical freedom and the right to one’s personal health decisions is not a partisan topic–it is a fundamental aspect of a free society. In the time of mandatory vaccines, it’s time for Americans from all political backgrounds to speak up and say ENOUGH.
