Not even your favorite sea sponge is safe from getting accused of offending people. A spokesperson from Nickelodeon said the network pulled their episode ‘Kwarantined Crab’ because the storyline is about a virus and they don’t want to air it because it may be insensitive to people with a real-world pandemic going on.

“The ‘Kwarantined Crab’ centers on a virus storyline, so we have decided to not air it due to sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic,” the spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly.

In the episode, the health inspector character comes to the Krusty Krab (a restaurant under the sea for those that don’t know) and mistakenly thinks someone in the restaurant has ‘clam flu’ (even though no one does). Long story short, the characters have to quarantine in the restaurant and get stuck in the restaurant for a day. When the owner comes back, everyone has lost their mind. 

The network probably doesn’t want to air the episode because it vaguely mimics real-life and the negative consequences of locking people up for a year. People go crazy! WhO WoULd’Ve ThOuGHt? Gee, wouldn’t want that idea getting out because we all know the coronavirus’s biggest symptom is thinking
