A recent poll from Gallup has found that American satisfaction with the quality of K-12 education has tied its record low.

According to the poll, only 36% of respondents state that they are satisfied with the quality of K-12 education, tying the record low since Gallup started the annual polling in 1999. The level of satisfaction for this year is a staggering nine points below the historic average.

All told, 35% of parents of K-12 students are ‘completely satisfied’ with their child’s education, 41% are ‘somewhat satisfied,’ 12% are ‘somewhat dissatisfied’ and 9% ‘completely dissatisfied.’ Meanwhile, 8% of Americans are completely satisfied with K-12 education nationally, 28% are somewhat satisfied, 38% somewhat dissatisfied and 25% completely dissatisfied.

One stipulation Gallup makes is the difference in satisfaction levels between parents of children in school and the American public as a whole. While the American public has a majority unfavorable view of K-12 education, parents still tend to be satisfied overall with the quality of their child’s education.

However, the percentage of parents who rank their child’s educator positively may not be as high as schools would desire. Only 36% of parents say they would rate the performance of their child’s teachers as “excellent,” while 37% say “good,” 20% say “fair,” and 7% responded with “poor.”

The divide among respondents of different ideological backgrounds has reached record levels. While both liberal and conservative respondents have a most dissatisfied view of K-12 education, conservatives are at a record low with only 25% of respondents saying they are satisfied. This finding is surprising when viewing the overall trend of this annual survey, as just three years ago conservatives had a more favorable view on the quality of education than liberals did.

Many conservative parents have been speaking out about the clear political agenda being pushed in classrooms. From radical gender theory to Marxism to critical race theory, conservatives are growing impatient at how the classroom is being used as a tool for the left to indoctrinate children.
