Nearly 40,000 Students Left California Public Schools In The Past Year

Nearly 40,000 students were unenrolled from California public education in the 2022-2023 school year as families left the state in droves to escape high prices and political indoctrination.
The California Department of Education released its enrollment data, showing a continued decline in public school student enrollment across the state. The percentage of decline was 0.67% this year, which equates to 39,696 fewer students than the previous school year.
Last year, California lost 110,283 students, and during the 2020-2021 school year a total of 160,478 students left the state’s public education. The Washington Examiner reported that the decline in enrollment comes as no surprise, as 500,000 residents have moved out of California and on to greener pastures over the past two years.
The California Department of Education released a statement claiming ,“It has been a state priority to work to ensure that families are engaged in public schools and that schools meet family needs.” The state also secured $23.8 billion in funding for “programs and initiatives to engage families and students in public schools, address and dismantle barriers to student success, and jumpstart learning recovery.”
The bigger problem at hand that is driving families away from public education is the rampant indoctrination taking place in California schools. Teachers have prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion, over education. Many have claimed that standardized grading scales are unfair and disproportionately affect minority students, which causes them to advocate for lower requirements. Critical race theory (CRT) is embedded into the curriculum whenever possible, diluting any actual information that could be conveyed to students, and replacing knowledge with propaganda.
Then there is the fact that California considers itself a “sanctuary state” for transgender youth, and many school faculties have agreed to allow students to “change their genders” with the promise that their parents will not be informed. Just last year, San Francisco mandated public schools to teach the intricacies of gender theory to elementary students, and announced that parents do not need to be informed or involved.
California’s parents have been sent a loud and clear message from educators: parental rights do not exist in this state. Fed up parents who care about their child’s education have left the public school systems, and many have fled the state altogether.
