My Eye Witness Account from the US Southern Border
I recently took a trip down to the Yuma, AZ down at the southern border. We planned to do some coverage during the day, but it’s June and the Arizona heat is off the charts. While we were down there, Border Patrol agents informed us that the majority of illegal crossings have been taking place between midnight and 5am due to the heat, and to come back to “see the show.” So we did.
Just before midnight, we witnessed a few crossings, but nothing significant. We spent about 3 hours walking and driving up and down the incomplete border wall without incident. But at 3am, it happened. A massive group of immigrants began entering through a large gap in the boarder wall. Within minutes it seemed like an entire town had formed in front of our eyes. Border Patrol agents estimated that about 300 people were in the group.
Once the group of approximately 300 was out of sight, our team walked through the gap in the wall and entered Mexico to get a better look at the area. About 30 minutes later, we saw a second wave of immigrants began to flood in, a couple hundred in number. I spoke with someone who I learned was a human smuggler, and asked him how many he estimated to be in this group. He told me that there were most likely 600-800 people were illegally crossing.
Just from 3 to 5am, at one of the many open sections in the border wall, in just one border city of one border state, at least 900 people illegally entered the United States.
People from Afghanistan, Russia, India, Georgia, Honduras, Guatemala, Pakistan and more shouted their origin county’s name as they walked by.
This is happening daily across our southern border, and the current administration has allowed it to progressively get worse.
