My Address on DEI and Education Before a Texas Senate Hearing

On February 27, I addressed a Texas Senate Hearing to speak about the dangerous influence of DEI on Texas students.
In 1911, Booker T. Washington wrote about a situation in America that somehow has only continued to manifest in our current time:
“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
I told the Hearing members that many black people are staunchly against DEI, despite what the media and political elites may say to the contrary.
I then asked, “What has DEI truly produced?”
Has it united the school districts of Texas?
The answer is clear—no.
Has DEI improved student reading scores? Math scores?
No.
Has it raised SAT test scores?
No.
Has it drained the wallets of American taxpayers?
Yes!
What has DEI done but breed confusion and division? According to the Bible, God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.
It’s time to stop hiding behind the veil of DEI, pretending it’s leveling the playing field. It’s time to wipe off the blackface of DEI and expose it as a lie.
DEI claims to uplift Black and Brown communities, but in reality, it’s been hijacked to promote radical ideologies that have nothing to do with helping those communities.
Texas State Senator Brad Creighton told me a sad truth: after a decade of DEI offices across Texas universities, minority faculty recruitment and hiring has decreased from 3.1% to 1.7%.
I responded to the Senator with a similar statistic.
Only 4% of DEI hires are Black, and a staggering 76% of Chief Diversity Officers are white. This is the so-called “diversity” we’re being sold? We need diversity for our diversity it would seem!
Fighting past racism with present racism is no solution. Yet that’s exactly what the so-called “antiracist” movement, led by figures like Ibram X. Kendi, insists upon. Instead of uniting this country, it’s dividing us further. It’s time to reject this toxic ideology and restore the values that can truly bring us together. Our future depends on it.
We can no longer afford to ignore the real issues: we must improve student reading and math scores, and we must rid our schools of content that is mentally raping our children.
The time for change is now. The future of our children depends on it.
