Disney has recently come under fire after the release of their newest live-action film, Mulan, for including a “thank you” credit to the Chinese Communist Party’s security agency in Xinjiang province, where around 1 million Uyghur Muslims are being held in concentration camps.

Before this, the film experienced backlash after the lead actress, a woman called Liu Yifei backed a crackdown on peaceful, pro-democracy Hong Kong protestors.

It seems as though Disney is very quick to defend and support the totalitarian, murderous and oppressive government that exists in Communist China. To quote a classic lyric from a seemingly bygone era of the iconic American film house, it seems as though the CCP ain’t never had a friend like Disney.

Yet when it comes to conservative principles here in America, the Mouse is far less friendly.

In 2019, former Walt Disney Co-Chief Executive Bob Iger expressed that it would be “very difficult” for the media company to continue filming in Georgia if a pro-life heartbeat bill took effect because “many people who work for us will not want to work there.”

So let me get this straight: conservative principles create an unwelcoming environment for Disney employees but the oppression, torture, and imprisonment of political prisoners is as welcoming as the ‘It’s a Small World’ ride.

It’s disappointing that such an iconic and uniquely American brand as Disney would bend the knee to the CCP but ‘take a stand’ against the preservation of life here in America. But is anyone really surprised? After all—if the left didn’t have double standards they wouldn’t have any standards at all.
