MTG Files Articles of Impeachment Against DHS Secretary After Two of Her Constituents Killed by Human Smugglers in Texas

United States House Representative from Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene, filed articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas after a horrifying story out of Texas revealed that two of her constituents were killed in a head-on collision with a human smuggler who was attempting to evade police while transporting illegal immigrants.
Bill Melugin first reported on the incident, stating, “8 people are dead – after a human smuggler driving a vehicle full of illegal immigrants crashed head-on into a SUV while evading police in Batesville, TX.” According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, riders in both vehicles, including both American citizens and Honduran illegal immigrants were all killed.
As of the latest report, six Americans were killed in the accident. It was found out that two of the Americans involved were from Dalton, GA, the district run by Marjorie Taylor Greene. Greene took to social media to share that the couple had five children who they “will never get to say goodbye” to.
She then introduced articles to impeach DHS head, Alejandro Mayorkas, accusing him of “high crimes and misdemeanors” against the American public for his inaction on securing the southern border. (Secretary Mayorkas is not an elected representative of the American people but was appointed to his position by the President and sworn in by the Vice President in 2021.)
“Yesterday, two Americans from my district in Dalton, GA were killed in a high-speed head-on collision at the hands of human traffickers smuggling illegal aliens into this country,” Greene shared.
“Rather than adhering to an oath he took to defend and secure our country and uphold the constitution — Mayorkas has engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with the laws of the United States,” she stated.
“As Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas has violated his oath to upload this constitutional duty by allowing the invasion of approximately 10 million illegals across our borders,” she shared. “The ongoing invasion at our southern border is a direct national security threat against the states and against the citizens that they’re in.”
She then went on to accuse Mayorkas of willfully abandoning his duty to secure the border and secure states from invasion, a direct violation of Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution.
The vote to impeach Mayorkas is rumored to take place this coming Tuesday, per a senior House GOP leadership source.
On Wednesday of this week, Mayorkas, during a Congressional hearing on border security budget and spending, testified that the situation at the border “was not a disaster.” His comments come after the record-breaking number of illegal crossings during the month of September, which topped almost 270,000 encounters. The highest number on record, surpassing the previous 252,315 set in December of 2022.
