On September 29th, the National School Board Association (NSBA) sent a letter to the Biden Administration claiming that parents who oppose their teachings may be “equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism.” The Department of Justice issued a memorandum based upon this letter. Media coverage ensued and caused significant outrage among many concerned parents.

The media heat forced the NSBA to draft an apology letter and remove the original letter from their website. However, Attorney General Merrick Garland defended the memo. When asked by the House Judiciary Committee, Garland did not back down, saying that the NSBA’s follow-up apology letter “does not change the association’s concern about violence and threats of violence.”

So, parents who oppose critical race theory, radical gender theory, or a liberal indoctrination in schools should think twice before they express their opinions. The federal government has spoken, your speech has been chilled and your warning has been issued.

One parent recently received an unexpected stern warning when she spoke up about posters present in her kids’ school which encouraged children to “research” sexuality, explained the “virtues” of being “polysexual,” and promoted the LGBTQ agenda.

New Jersey mother, Angela Reading, who has children in the North Hanover Township Elementary School District, posted about the topic on a Facebook group for parents. Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Shilling saw the post and stated that the Joint Base (McGuire, Fort Dix and Lakehurst) are “looking into” her posts, informing law enforcement, and are “monitoring the situation.”

“Reading slammed the elementary school’s hallway display as ‘perverse,’ arguing ‘it should be illegal to expose my kids to sexual content’ and provided parents with pictures of the LGBTQ-themed poster walls.”

Reading was not expecting to be called out by a high-ranking military official, as she explained on Tucker Carlson Tonight, “I actually pulled my kids from school the day I found out. It was mind-boggling and I was worried for them, when the U.S. military comes after you for simply raising concern about a public poster that is widely available for all to see.”

Based upon fear and intimidation, Reading agreed to the removal of her post. This is deeply troubling for Reading and the public at large. We should not permit any high-ranking military officer to feel comfortable using his official capacity in an unauthorized fashion to intimidate a civilian over her opinions. Additionally, the role of the military is to protect and serve America and its people, not enforce laws or police citizens.
