One of the six migrants charged with viciously attacking two NYPD officers was arrested while out on bail, according to a report from the New York Post.
Yohnery Brito was arrested for the attack on police officers in Times Square and was released after an activist Brooklyn priest posted his $15,000 bail. Brito was arrested again for alleged petit larceny. Brito reportedly attempted to steal children’s clothing from Macy’s flagship store.
He was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both of which are misdemeanors, per the Post.
Judge Laura Wood said she is “furious” that the migrant was rearrested while he was out on this case. She said she was “tempted” to put the career criminal in jail.
“I’m telling you right now, if I learn you are rearrested for anything at all between now and this case being finished, I will order a warrant and I will place bail so high, you will not get out,” Wood said to Briton. “If you jaywalk, if you jump a turnstile, if you do anything at all and I have to issue a warrant, you will not see the light of day until this case is over.”
Brito is among five additional migrants connected to the attack on police officers. All six of the migrants were offered plea deals by Wood. Under the proposed plea deal, Brito, Ulises Bohorquez, and Andres Gomez-Izquiel would serve a year in jail in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree assault.
Kelvin Servita Arocha and Wilson Juarez, two additional migrants charged in the police attack, were offered separate plea deals. If they plead guilty to obstructing a government administration, they would receive only six months in prison.
The plea deal would send Yorman Reveron to prison for two years for pleading guilty to second-degree assault, per the District Attorney’s office.
