The state of Michigan has banned the open carry of guns at polling locations. When Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced this to the public on October 16th, there was negative feedback from gun activists, and even the NRA made a statement opposing the ban.
The left has claimed that they don’t want their voters to feel intimidated or threatened and don’t want disruption at the polling places. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel sided with the Secretary of State on the ban saying, “An armed presence at the polls is inconsistent with our notion of a free democracy.”
There has already been one sheriff out of Livingston County, Mike Murphy, who stated that “An order is an order and, quite frankly, is unenforceable.”
