Mexican Gov’t Claims Fentanyl Trafficked into the U.S. Originates from China

With hundreds of thousands of migrants coming into the U.S. and invading our sovereign land, there continues to be a major concern of drug and human trafficking along our southern border.

The United States has seen an alarming increase in fentanyl-related deaths in the last few years. From 2016 to 2021, deaths by fentanyl quadrupled. Urban cities like San Francisco, for example, have seen a 41% increase in fentanyl overdose deaths this year.

In 2022, the DEA announced that the amount of fentanyl seized is enough to kill the entire U.S. population.

The availability of fentanyl throughout the United States has reached unprecedented heights. In 2022, DEA seized more than 50 million fake pills and 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder equating to approximately 379 million deadly doses of fentanyl. This is enough fentanyl to supply a potentially lethal dose to every member of the U.S. population. These seizures occurred in every state in the country.

DEA administrator Anne Milgram in a statement to Congress

A vast majority of the fentanyl entering the U.S. is being trafficked here by the Mexican cartels. But now, Mexican President López Obrador is stating that the fentanyl being trafficked into the U.S. is being illegally shipped from China.

The Mexican Navy recently seized packages being imported to Lázaro Cárdenas that had traces of fentanyl and methamphetamine. The goods are believed to have originated from Qingdao, China.

Mexico’s President claims that the drug is not manufactured by cartels in Mexico but is being trafficked and bought from Asia by the cartels to smuggle to the United States. In response to this, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated, “There is no such thing as illegal trafficking of fentanyl between China and Mexico” and that the fentanyl problem in the U.S. is “completely ‘made in USA.'”

Fentanyl currently accounts for 67% of all drug-related deaths in the United States. Just 2mg of fentanyl, which is the size of the tip of a pencil, is considered a deadly dose for humans.

“Turning Point USA’s commitment to the fight for freedom on campus is more important now than ever.”
