Men Competing in Women’s Sports, ‘Doesn’t Really Exist’ Representative Says

This week, Representative Hakeem Jeffries spoke to reporters regarding conservative efforts to restrict biological men from competing in women’s sports. In response to this, Jeffries stated that conservatives are “trying to sensationalize an issue that doesn’t really exist.”
In recent months, several progressive ideologues have spoken out against policies that require transgender athletes to compete in the category of their biological sex. Many of them cite equality when defending their view, but rarely address whether or not it would be fair to the women in the athletic field to put them up against biological men. Congresswoman Katie Porter recently stated on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” that collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines has been speaking out simply for “likes and clicks.”
Pushback against states attempting to enact bans on sporting events is coming from the federal government as well. The Department of Education is currently attempting to broaden Title IX requirements to prohibit schools from placing restrictions on transgender athletes who want to compete in the category of their gender identity.
Members of the left are trying to gaslight the public into thinking that this problem doesn’t actually exist. Granted, these incidents are not occurring at a high frequency because this issue is only now making its way into the mainstream. Should we continue to allow this to happen, it won’t be long until nearly every women’s sporting event is dominated by a biological man.
Turning Point USA has extensively covered multiple instances of female athletes losing to biological men and the policies that are being enacted to prevent this from happening. Congressman Jeffreys’ attempt to downplay the situation is insulting to the women who are losing opportunities left and right. NCAA champion swimmer and Independent Women’s Forum spokesperson Riley Gaines has been an outspoken advocate for female-only sports, and will be speaking at TPUSA’s Annual Young Women’s Leadership Summit this June.
