A left-wing activist group is raising money for “mobile response teams” aimed at confronting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during operations in California.
Townhall columnist Dustin Grage posted on X a screenshot of a test message from the organization Save America Movement, which read “ICE agents are raiding L.A. in masks without badges, names, or accountability … So the Save America Movement is launching Liberty Vans: mobile response teams with cameras, chaplains, lawyers and veterans, and show the world what’s happening in our communities.”
The group’s fundraising page currently lists a goal of $1,000,000, which it is close to reaching. According to the organization’s website, the Save America Movement says that among its missions is a determination to “confront MAGA” and “engage voters.”
The campaign comes amid heightened tensions surrounding federal immigration enforcement in California. The Department of Homeland Security has warned of a surge in physical assaults on ICE agents, especially during raids. California has recently seen a string of violent riots, and two shootings targeting ICE and border facilities have occurred in Texas.
Additionally, the app known as ICEBlock has been promoted by many on the left. The app allows users to mark sightings of ICE agents on a map, which sends alerts to other users nearby.
“While ICE and [Customs and Border Protection] officers are being assaulted by rioters and dodging bullets to save children, Sanctuary politicians are demonizing ICE and CBP,” said DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin on Friday, following a raid on a marijuana farm in California suspected of exploiting unaccompanied minors. “We will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who assaults or doxes federal law enforcement.”
