Should Children Be Told “Good Job”?
In a world of forced masks blinding the innocent faces of sweet children and mandatory vaccines jabbing those as young as 5 years old as a requirement to participate in school or activities, many parents seek to regain control over the well-being of their progeny.
Such parents should avoid the writings of author Alphie Kohn like the plague, no COVID pun intended. Wikipedia describes Mr. Kohn as a proponent of progressive education and has offered critiques of many traditional aspects of parenting. One of his red flag-worthy ideas is to stop saying, “Good Job” to children.
Who would ever want their child to think that hard work is a benefit? Cringe, gross, ewwwwww! Who would dare to reward a youngster for accomplishing a goal? Gasp, shock, disgust!
Author Alphie has a myriad of reasons for disliking the expression “Good Job!” It’s tantamount to child manipulation while stealing childhood pleasure and promoting parental ease.
Most laughable Alphie says that the expression ‘good job’ “tak[es] advantage of children’s dependence.” Well dear progressive, ivy-league educated Alphie, if you do not teach children to be proud of working hard, they will forever be dependent.
Parents should rely on common sense and personal values to raise their children, not those who feel morally superior by monitoring YOUR words. Good job Alfie, you are creating a generation of kids who think life is easy and a work ethic is not necessary.
