I was selected to be one of the VIP members of President Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social. I guess this information somehow became public and I was contacted by a reporter at Reuters. Here’s the colloquy below.

Hi Erin,

I’m a tech reporter for Reuters; I hope you are doing well. We are working on a story today about President Trump’s new social media app, Truth Social, and how a small number of influential users have been invited to start using the app. I heard you were among the influencers who got the invitation – are you free for a quick call today? I’d love to hear your impressions of the app. Thanks for your help – I hope to talk to you soon!
Best,

Julia Love

Julia Love is a Technology Correspondent for Reuters. See below for my response to her.

Julia,

I hope you’re doing well and having a great day. As to a comment about Truth Social, please see below. I only grant permission for you to use the statement in its entirety.

Truth Social is up and running and people who love freedom of speech, honesty, and transparency are thrilled. As someone who works for Reuters, I’m sure you are aware that James C. Smith, the chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Reuters is an investor and board member for Big Pharma’s Pfizer, arguably the biggest COVID vaccine producer in the world today.

Reuters also conducts fact-checking projects for Twitter, including endeavors that pertain to vaccines. These corrupt efforts done by a party with a glaring conflict of interest are nothing more than attempts to censor free speech, more specifically conservative opinions.

Therefore, I think Truth is an even more necessary app to avoid being part of a compromised system in which your employer is a huge part.

Best,

Erin Elmore

A few takeaways. First, just because a reporter wants to talk to you doesn’t mean you should always reply. Second, don’t assume reporters are your friend. Third, assume anything that you tell them will be used against you. Fourth, always require that your comment be used in its entirety. Fifth, everything I said about Pfizer above is true. Fact-checking is now a big, for-profit industry that has absolutely nothing to do with actual facts.
