Kansas City High School Crowns Transgender Homecoming Queen, Again

Over the weekend, a male student who identifies as female was crowned the second-ever trans homecoming queen at a Kansas City high school.

Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri awarded transgender-identifying student Tristan Young the honor of being crowned homecoming queen after his classmates voted for him above four female students also competing.

According to several reports, Young is not the first male to be named homecoming queen at Oak Park High School. In 2015, a male student named Landon Patterson won the title mere months after assuming his “female” identity.

One writer for the Kansas City Star reported on the crowning of the first transgender-identifying homecoming queen at the school back in 2015. She began her clearly objective and unbiased article by stating, “It was a moment that felt too good to be true.” Patterson “came out” as transgender in a video he posted to YouTube 8 years ago titled, “I AM TRANSGENDER.”

The report noted that school administrators and Patterson’s cheer coach supported his social transition, and even worked with state agencies to determine which locker room and bathroom he would be allowed to use. Patterson has since become a trans-influencer and drag queen, identifying himself online as the “Japanese Barbie of KC” and a Taylor Swift Illusionist.”

The Kansas City Star reporter also paid homage to the first reported transgender-identifying homecoming queen, 16-year-old Lance Campbell, who went by the feminine name Cassidy Lynn Campbell, and was crowned in 2013 in Huntington Beach, California.

At the time, although several mainstream outlets reported on and applauded these milestones for the LGBT community, transgender ideology did not become a highly contested national debate until recently, following a series of concerning incidents in public schools.

While many on the left continue to praise each new male homecoming queen or beauty pageant winner, Oak Park High School’s decision to crown Young has been widely discussed and criticized online.

“One of these people is a male with an Adam’s apple,” Libs of TikTok, owned by Turning Point USA Contributor Chaya Raichik, shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Can you guess which one is a male?”

“So stunning & brave,” Riley Gaines sarcastically commended on X. “Another reminder to all girls that men make the best women. I wonder if a female will win homecoming king or if it’s understood that both of these spots are reserved for males. Who’s to blame here?”

Young’s Instagram states that he is “conquering femininity.”
