Having grown up in the firearm industry, I remember how little representation women had in the community. Guns, holsters, accessories, you name it- it was all designed for men. Nothing sexist about this! But factually men made up a large majority of the shooting sports, so of course manufacturers would cater to that demographic.
But you know what I love most about the firearms industry? It is ALWAYS innovating!
Personally, I noticed a shift in manufacturers making more women-friendly firearms and accessories about 5 years ago. And I’m talking:
- Holsters that aren’t bulky and easier to conceal on the female body.
- Firearms that are concealable but aren’t pink and purple.
- Range bags that aren’t camo or leather
- After market accessories to make the shooting experience more enjoyable.
And the list goes on!
In 2020, 40% of the 8.4M first-time gun owners were WOMEN.
In 2021, 30% of the 5.4M first-time gun owners were WOMEN.
It makes my heart so happy to see that women of all ages, backgrounds, color, styles, and views are feeling empowered to purchase a firearm and receive training.
SO… In order for us all to connect, I started a Facebook Group last year called 2A Baddies. I coined the term “2A Baddies” during a branding meeting for my gun show and I was asked what I wanted my audience to feel while watching my show.
Naturally, I said empowered. “I want them to realize you don’t have to fit in this box to like firearms. I want them to see that you can dress cute while being a badass and safely exercising their 2nd Amendment.”
And then it clicked: “I want to build a group of 2A BADDIES”
Gives me chills every time!
This is a women-only group (sorry boys) where you’re free to ask questions you may not be comfortable asking anywhere else, give opinions, and post your newest accomplishment in our firearm journey!
You can sign up here.
I can’t wait to have you!
