That’s kinda it. That’s the whole story. Supposedly this is going to happen sometime in May?

BUT! Here’s some context:

You may be wondering, “why on earth would ANYONE in their right mind take the Press Secretary job? I had the same question… Essentially, the press secretary’s job is thankless. On a good day, you have to try and spin the news to appease the people in the media while also covering for anything coming out of the White House.

On a bad day, you get trouted out in front of cameras just after the President has said something ridiculous. Then you have to dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge questions from clickbait-driven reporters trying to slip you up. It honestly sounds terrible.

EXCEPT when you’re done with it.

White House Press Secretary’s generally last for a year or two and, during that time, take a beating from the opposing media and become engrained into whatever side of the aisle they represent. BUT, once they leave their post in the White House briefing room, they tend to all have one thing in common. SIZABLE bank accounts.

This doesn’t really differ from party to party or Press Sec. to Press Sec. Pretty much all of them go on to make gazillions of dollars hosting TV shows, becoming DC deal makers, or running for office themselves. Jen Psaki will be no different.

So in effect, I think I’ve answered my own question… Why would ANYONE want that horrible, thankless job? Because the payout once you’re done is handsome.

As a matter of fact, I’ll throw this out there to any future Presidents… I am willing to take the Press Sec job. I can spin just as well as anyone in DC and would love my own Prime Time show someday.
