January 6th Was Not Worse Than Pearl Harbor and 9/11

The Left is pushing a new toxic narrative—the situation at the US Capitol on January 6th was “the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.” Put simply, nothing could be further from the truth.

Since the Civil War, the United States has experienced several horrible tragedies. Only leftists would try to rank and prioritize misery, loss, death and destruction for their own political gain. Instead, let’s have a small history lesson about two horrible American tragedies, Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

Pearl Harbor, a U.S. naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii, was the location of a deadly surprise attack by Japanese forces on December 7, 1941. Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the based and managed to destroy or damage nearly 20 American naval vessels, eight battleships and over 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack and another 1,000 people were wounded.

Often referred to as 9/11, the September 11 terror attacks were a series of four well-orchestrated atrocities committed by terrorist group Al-Qaeda against the United States. The attacks claimed 2,977 lives, injured more than 25,000, leaving many with long-term health consequences. Plus, over $10 billion in infrastructure and property damages occurred.

Obviously, January 6th was a sad day in America. No one deserves to die, no one deserves to be afraid, but no one should use this day as a liberal talking point to silence conservative speech. No one should frame January 6th as a day that was more deadly or worse than Pearl Harbor or 9/11. That would be factually inaccurate and a slap in the face to the heartbreak and loss so many felt from these two American tragedies.
