J.K. Rowling Says She’d ‘Happily’ Go to Jail Before Agreeing with Trans Ideology

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, an outspoken critic of transgender ideology, boldly claimed that she would willingly face imprisonment for using biological pronouns instead of preferred pronouns, should the United Kingdom categorize such an action as a hate crime.
In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that stated the possible punishment for “misgendering” in the U.K. could soon be up to two years in prison, Rowling stated, “I’ll happily do two years if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex. Bring on the court case, I say. It’ll be more fun than I’ve ever had on a red carpet.“
Currently, the United Kingdom’s Labour Party is attempting to embolden the already-active law against misgendering trans-identifying individuals. This new policy would classify the action of deliberately using a person’s “wrong” pronoun as an “aggregated offense,” a crime punishable by up to two years in prison.
Anneliese Dodds, Shadow Women and Equalities Secretary in the U.K., explained the possible misgendering policy, stating that, “The Conservatives are failing to protect LGBT+ people with their inability to get a handle on hate crime, including violent hate crime. Labour will strengthen the law to ensure the perpetrators of anti-LGBT+ hate can no longer dodge longer sentences.”
Despite her otherwise progressive views on society and feminism, J.K. Rowling has been a vocal critic of transgender ideology, frequently labeled as a “TERF,” or trans-exclusionary radical feminist. Her dissenting views came to the forefront in 2020 when she questioned an op-ed that used the term “people who menstruate” instead of “women.” Since then, Rowling has consistently spoken out against social conformity to the belief that individuals can “identify” as the opposite sex.
