It Is Not Easier To Buy A Gun Than To Vote

When you want to buy a gun (a right), you have to:

  • Show your ID
  • Fill out a form answering a multitude of questions
  • Tell them about your mental health
  • Tell them if you have a criminal history
  • At times you wait for months to be approved after your background check
  • Pay money (hundreds to thousands of dollars)

If you want to carry a gun, you have to do much more.

Do you have to do all of these things to vote? No.

Are lines long at some polling places? Yes.

Are lines long at some gun stores? Yes.

While some states may have “stricter” voting laws than others, the point still stands – buying a gun is NOT easier than voting.

Is every felon federally prohibited from buying guns? Yes.

Is every felon federally prohibited from voting? No.

So who started the rumor that it is “easier to buy a gun than it is to vote”?

Someone who has never purchased a gun and someone who is pushing a devastating political agenda.
