Under Florida’s 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, Disney is allowed to act as its own government. Given that four Disney employees were recently arrested as part of a human trafficking operation in Florida and that Disney promotes sexuality to children, this law has gained mass attention.
Because of Governor DeSantis and the Florida legislature, it might be revoked. At a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida, the Governor suggested repealing the 55-year-old state law stating that he doesn’t “support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful and they’ve been able to wield a lot of power.”
