Last week I sat down with Producer Abigail and asked her your burning questions. Little does everyone know, the POPlitics team has grown a lot since this time last year. One of the more important people we brought on was Natalie (we haven’t picked a cute name for her yet, maybe you can help).
Her official title is Admin, but it doesn’t do justice to all the things she does for us. Really she is a co-producer with Abigail, filling the roles that she doesn’t.
Today we’re gonna spend the day with her and get to know what her job is!
Q: So, Natalie, we don’t have a nickname for you yet, but you’re best known for your cameo as a conspiracy theorist who loves tin foil and believes in aliens. How does that make you feel?
A: The less people know, the better…
Q: Alriiiight… So tell us, what exactly do you do for POPlitics each day.
A: The less people know, the better….
But seriously, lol, my main roll is to make sure POPlitics gets packaged and posted on time each day for the fans, but that’s not all I do. I am the first eyes on the script each morning making sure you (Alex) don’t say something cray cray that would cost us all of our jobs. I also just try to help with spelling and grammar, because everyone could use some help in that area.
When it comes to the packaging, I write the descriptions and make the fun thumbnails everyday, and I also help write catchy titles.
For Producer Abigail, I am the first eyes on her edit. I help watch to make sure there are no technical errors that she may have over looked. I also help add any inside jokes that would make it more entertaining.
I help Alex with her speeches and other writing she does, and I try to help prepare her for her news hits when I can. I organize and schedule all of the meetings and help keeps these nut jobs together. I also track all of our episode and podcast views, progress we’ve made towards various goals, and make sure we’re on track to succeed.
Finally, I help keep Alex organized with her pillows, props, wigs, daily life, and sometimes her dentures (Invisalign) because Producer Abigail won’t touch them.
Q: WOW. So you do a lot for us. Stuff I didn’t even know you were doing… well awkward transition….
Well how did you find TPUSA and what made you decide to get involved? Follow up, did you know you’d be working on POPlitics?
A: TLDR: I was a campus activist in college and helped run our local chapter. So I had known about TPUSA for several years. Not long before my graduation, I was looking for jobs and saw the opening. After low key being annoying to the hiring department, I finally got through to them and got an interview.
I was brought in to visit and get to know the team and it just felt like a perfect fit. So I moved out of Commiefornia two weeks later and found a place near HQ.
To answer your follow up, I didn’t know I would be working on POPlitics as much as I currently am, but I had been following the show since it started. Once I got hired, I was able to see how you (Alex) and Producer Abigail ran the show and I knew you needed help. A LOT of help.
Q: Final question… What do you know about aliens? TELL US.
A: Uh, I have to go. I’m getting a phone call.
This is a written interview…
Well, everyone say thank you to Natalie and help us pick a good nickname for her! I’m thinking… Medic Nat, since she’s always giving Producer Abigail bandaids…
You can find her on Instagram @Not_Nataliee or everyday directing me in the studio @POPlitics.
