If your child is an elementary student at Jane Addams Elementary school in Illinois, they now have a new option for after-school fun–the school-sanctioned Satan Club!

No, I’m not kidding.

After kids brought home informational flyers about the upcoming club, parents asked for further clarification from the district, which responded with the following statement:

“The Moline-Coal Valley School District and Board of Education have policies and administrative procedures in place which allow for community use of its publicly funded facilities outside the day. The district does not discriminate against any groups who wish to rent our facilities, including religious-affiliated groups.”

According to the club’s flyers, students who participate will be taught benevolence and empathy, critical thinking, problem-solving, creative expression, and personal sovereignty.

The Satanic Temple has fostered the creation of many after-school Satan Clubs, which “focus on free inquiry and rationalism, the scientific basis for which we know what we know about the world around us. We prefer to give children an appreciation of the natural wonders surrounding them, not a fear of everlasting other-worldly horrors.”

What would your response be if an after-school Satan Club was formed at your kid’s elementary school?
