As a contributing writer to Evie Magazine, I’m often tasked with investigating Gen Z culture and what trends are impacting America. Recently, I dove into a research project that would unexpectedly surprise me, even as a content creator constantly working in this realm–the rise of TikTok and its influence on the business world and content creation.

While you can read the whole article here for a deep-dive into TikTok’s influence on the changing nature of business, I wanted to share with you just a few shocking facts about TikTok’s rise to global superiority in social media:

  • As of 2022, TikTok as an app has been downloaded globally over 3 billion times, and now boasts 1.9 billion monthly active users in over 150 countries across the world.
  • The top TikTok stars like Charli D’Amelio, her sister Dixie, and Addison Rae are beginning to see the impact of influencer culture in corporate advertising–Charli alone outearned several of the world’s most powerful Fortune 500 CEOs in 2021 after earning $17.9 million in annual income, including that of Exxon Mobil, Starbucks, and Delta Airlines.
  • Generation Z is changing the world and American culture in countless ways, only one of which being the dramatic change in our attention spans–Gen Z has an average attention span of only 8 seconds (the shortest EVER) behind Millennials at 12 seconds. This change is forcing companies and creators alike to change their strategies in how they capture our attention.

Pretty crazy, huh?! Are you a TikTok user, or have you decided not to jump on this platform changing society as we know it? Let us know in the comments! 👇
