It’s been 5 years since 2-year-old Lane Thomas Graves was killed by an alligator while vacationing with his family at a Disney World Resort.
In the aftermath of his tragic death, Disney World partnered with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to remove nuisance alligators from the area. They utilized local trappers to assist and offered $30 per gator, as well as the profits from the meat and hides.

Some gators were relocated to local zoos or farms; however, many were simply euthanized. Their efforts removed 250 alligators, but with such a high alligator population in Florida, the threat remains as gator sightings continue to be reported in the area.
Disney World has since installed walls and put up warning signs near its resorts.
There’s already a Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland. Might it be time to start a Gatorland?
