This week, the California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly announced that stay-at-home orders for Southern California would remain in effect for at least a few more weeks, citing crowded ICUs in the region and a high case rate of the virus.
This means “bars, hair salons, movie theaters, and theme parks” will remain closed in the area until the case number for COVID-19 can be reduced, and the ICU capacity increases with fewer patients.
Interestingly, California has some of the strictest regulations related to COVID-19, yet has the notably worst coronavirus outbreak in the United States. In fact, in the city of Los Angeles, even walking outside has become a prohibited activity.
Meanwhile, states who have mostly reopened their businesses and dining establishments have some of the lowest COVID numbers in the country, including Florida.
It doesn’t look like things are changing any time soon for California, so I predict another mass exodus of Californians from the crumbling state. Just do us all a favor–leave your state’s insane politics behind.
