In Lake County, Florida, a highway formerly known as Schofield Road has been named after the late Founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk. This is the first national road named after Kirk. The highway is located west of Orlando.

Lake County Commissioner Anthony Sabatini introduced a resolution for renaming Schofield Road, now called “Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway,” which passed unanimously on Wednesday. Sabatini exclaimed the following on X.

“Lake County is now the 1st local government in the nation to name a road after the great @charliekirk11,” he said.

While debate was ongoing as to whether or not the resolution should be passed, a resident questioner beckoned them to consider naming the highway after a late local officer who was killed on duty, instead of Charlie Kirk.

“How dare you use that deputy’s name for your petty bull**** political argument! How dare you!” Sabatini responded to the questioner.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, other Florida regions have sought, along with roadways, to establish other forms of Charlie Kirk memorials.

Failed council efforts have been made in the cities of Clearwater, Melbourne, and Pensacola in establishing Charlie Kirk memorials, while other memorials are pending in Hernando, Miami-Dade, and St. Lucie Counties.

The New College of Florida has planned a Charlie Kirk memorial statue to be placed on its campus “as a commitment by New College to defend and fight for free speech and civil discourse in American life.”

On the other side of the nation, roadways in Arizona have been proposed by the Arizona State Senate, such as the Maricopa County Loop 202 being renamed to “Charlie Kirk Memorial Loop 202,” initiated by Senator Warren Petersen. According to a press release, this will be voted on in the 57th Legislature, 2nd Regular Session, which begins Monday, January 12, 2026.
