Florida Governor DeSantis Ruins College for Transgender Liberal Students, ‘Our Safety is at Risk’

Last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he has chosen six conservatives who will be appointed to the New College of Florida’s board of trustees, outraged transgender and liberal students immediately “pledged to fight” the changes, in an interview with the Daily Beast.
“DeSantis will appoint six new members of NCF’s board of trustees: activist Chris Rufo, Dr. Mark Bauerlein, Dr. Matthew Spalding, Dr. Charles Kesler, lawyer Debra Jenks and educator Jason ‘Eddie’ Speir. The Florida Board of Governors will also appoint a seventh member.”

The move from Governor DeSantis will give conservatives a 7-6 majority on the college’s board of trustees, allowing them to make meaningful change by reversing the radical, left-wing policies and practices implemented by the school.
Values listed on the NCF’s website include creating a “just, diverse, equitable, and inclusive” environment for students, which echos the practices outlined in critical race theory — a divisive ideology which judges people on the basis of race, and teaches American history through an exaggeratedly negative lens.
“It is our hope that New College of Florida will become Florida’s classical college, more along the lines of a Hillsdale of the South.”
James Uthmeier, Chief of Staff for DeSantis
Students attending the New College of Florida explained in excruciating detail the dramatic moment when they found out about the changes being made to the board of trustees. Sam Sharf, a 22-year old biological male who identifies as a female, told the Daily Beast that he had just finished surfing when he saw the tragic news, “I got really sad and then just, like, laid down.”
Sharf specifically sited concerns over one board member in particular, Christopher F. Rufo, an activist and writer who has been outspoken against gender theory and the ways in which schools facilitate the spread of these radical concepts. Though Rufo made it clear that his goal is to remove the social justice warrior culture and replace it with a well-rounded, classical liberal arts education — thus restoring the original mission of NCF, the political science majors and leftist ideologues interviewed see this as a threat to trans-people’s very existence.
“Left-wing radicals have spent the past fifty years on a ‘long march through the institutions.’ We are going to reverse that process, starting now.”
Christopher F. Rufo
Gender theory, which had its not-so-humble beginnings in higher education with pedophiles like John Money and Alfred Kinsey, who enabled child abuse under the guise of “research,” now destroys lives with experimental procedures and medications.
Students and faculty who feel “threatened” by the mere presence of conservatives on campus have “pledged to fight” and have organized a protest, as outlined in an instagram post:
“Now, several students interviewed by The Daily Beast who see New College as a safe space for learning are vowing to protect it amid fears that as the small college becomes a big target for a conservative culture war, it will attract racist, sexist, and anti-LGBTQ attacks and even a potential for violence.”
“Justice Reporter” Eileen Grench
Approximately 650 students attend New College of Florida, and the institution consistently ranks among country’s the top liberal arts schools in the nation. Rankings are only expected to climb, considering the new board of trustees will now prioritize education over social justice.
