EXCLUSIVE: Eventbrite Removes TPUSA Chapter’s Listing for Event Watch Party of Matt Walsh’s “What is a Woman”

Bowling Green, Kentucky — Turning Point USA’s student chapter at Western Kentucky University recently scheduled a watch party for Matt Walsh’s documentary, “What Is a Woman” and listed the event on Eventbrite’s platform to register attendees. Soon after, Eventbrite removed the event listing, claiming the event promoted violence.

“We do not permit events, content, or creators that promote or encourage hate, violence, or harassment towards others and/or oneself,” the email sent to the student organization read.

The chapter’s official Twitter page assured students that the watch party would still take place, firmly stating, “let’s show Eventbrite that their censorship will not stop us.”

“What Is a Woman” is a documentary starring Matt Walsh, political commentator and journalist who was a speaker at YWLS, Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit earlier this year. Far from promoting violence, the film addresses the growing fallacy that men can be women and children can determine their gender at any time throughout adolescence. Recently, Matt Walsh broke multiple stories, along with Twitter account Libs of TikTok, that condemned hospitals providing gender transition surgeries to minors and promptly covering it up.

“Eventbrite clearly holds a bias against conservative leaning events . . . If they had done their research instead of making assumptions, they would see that the film is designed to create a conversation”

TPUSA Field Representative Maggie Fuchs

Following the announcement that Eventbrite removed the Turning Point USA chapter event, Matt Walsh Tweeted his support for the students writing, “we’re looking into this. It’s insane to think that Eventbrite won’t even let you organize a watch party for the film. We’ll find out what’s going on here.”

Turning Point USA has over 500 chapters at universities across the country, impacting students and young adults and teaching the importance of limited government, freedom, and capitalism. The chapter at Western Kentucky University has been praised by students as a “home for conservative students.”

Conservatives on campus too often feel ostracized from their college classmates for simply having a difference in opinion. Right wing speakers are frequently protested or blocked from coming to campuses all together; for a private company to claim that a student watch party event promotes violence is an absurd and baseless claim.
