Eleven Year Old Trans-Identifying Child Leads LGBTQ+ Pride Festival in Florida
An 11-year-old boy who identifies as a girl has been appointed the grand marshal for Orlando’s “Come Out With Pride Festival.”
Dempsey Jara, an eleven-year-old boy who identifies as a transgender girl, has gained public attention for his so-called “gender identity.” Jara has been cast on HBO’s “We’re Here” for his experience coming out at a young age.
Recently, Jara was selected to be the youngest individual to hold the title of grand marshal for the “Come Out With Pride Festival.” Notably, the parade took place in Florida, a state that, like several others, has implemented measures to restrict so-called “gender-affirming” surgeries for minors.
When asked about his identification as transgender by reporters, the 11-year-old stated that “being transgender is not a matter of choice.”
“It’s about being true to myself. It’s about embracing who I am even when the world tries to tell me otherwise,” Dempsey claimed. “It’s about standing tall in my identity even when it’s really hard.”
In a previous interview with the Daily Mail, Dempsey’s mother discussed her son’s early signs of being “gender non-conforming,” noting that these inclinations were apparent as early as eighteen months of age. Some of the indicators included his affinity for playing with dolls, a preference for dresses, and an attraction to sparkly objects.
“Knowing that these items were what she wanted, we bought them because we knew how happy they made her,” Dempsey’s mother explained. “Once I began sharing our daughter’s journey publicly, I started receiving a flood of messages and calls from friends, acquaintances and absolute strangers in similar situations asking for help and guidance with their transgender or gender non-conforming children. This continues to present day.”
