Dylan Mulvaney is the ‘Female’ Face of Olay

The skincare brand Olay is the most recent company to partner with transgender TikTok activist Dylan Mulvaney.

The skincare brand Olay is the most recent company to partner with transgender TikTok activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Mulvaney is the new face (with a five o’clock shadow) of Olay, a skincare company that has been catering to women since 1952. He is featured in their TikTok advertisement, “Olay every day,” alongside biological women using the skincare products.

Olay is just one of many female-orientated brands to choose Mulvaney over a biological woman to market their products. After getting sponsored by Nike, Mulvaney began posting videos of himself in leggings and sports bras. Even Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, a “transgender woman” spoke out against this. Sharron Davies, a 1980 Olympic silver medal swimmer called for a public boycott of Nike.

With the number of companies putting Mulvaney at the forefront of their marketing campaigns, many conservatives have been calling for boycotts. Since Mulvaney advertised the beer brand Bud Light, the company has lost billions in value as people across the country are refusing to buy their beverages.

But what Mulvaney’s sponsors don’t realize is that he does not appeal to men or women. A large percentage of women do not want to buy female clothes modeled by a man, and men don’t want to buy an alcoholic beverage because they saw a man in a dress drinking it.

The message from these companies is clear: women are not important. It is for this reason that we as consumers must send a clear and concise counter message: we will not purchase products that actively go against our values. We need to hit them where it hurts — their wallet.
