The US Department of Justice (DOJ) is proposing legislation to Congress, conjoined with President Trump’s late January executive order “Protecting Children From Chemical and Surgical Mutilation.”
“The Department of Justice has heard from far too many families who have been devastated by mutilative medical procedures that fly in the face of basic biology,” US Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a Thursday press release. “While we continue our ongoing legal battle to protect children, we appreciate our colleagues in Congress who are working diligently alongside us to end these abusive procedures once and for all.”
The legislation, titled “Victims of Chemical or Surgical Mutilation Act,” notably aims to protect those who have been harmed in any way through “transgender” procedures and surgeries.
The act would additionally prohibit “healthcare professionals, physicians, hospitals, or clinics from participating in the chemical or surgical mutilation of a child.” Concerning parental rights, it would also “provide a private right of action for children and the parents of children whose healthy body parts have been damaged by medical professionals practicing chemical and surgical mutilation.”
Another action prohibited is described as any “intervention undertaken because the individual suffers from a physical disorder, physical injury, or physical illness that would, as certified by a physician, place the individual in imminent danger of death unless the procedure is performed, not including any intervention for the purpose of alleviating mental distress.”
The Victims of Chemical or Surgical Mutilation Act is sponsored by Representative Bob Onder and Senator Marsha Blackburn.
