A protest was held in Plano, Texas, addressing the alleged “Islamification of America,” which Frontlines TPUSA covered over the weekend.
The protest, called “Americans Against Islamification,” was led by anti-Islam activist Jake Lang. Frontlines estimates over 150 people were present at the event.
The protest, taking place outside of East Plano Islamic Center, was characterized by controversial antics from its organizers. These included displays of pig heads and even a kennel with five living pigs in a provocative effort to offend Muslims who deem pigs unclean animals that are forbidden from their diets.
Lang also spoke from a pulpit that was set up in the back of a pick-up-truck depicting the Crusades-era phrase “Deus Vult,” with a book of the Quran inside of the mouth of a dead pig’s head.
“America will never fall like Europe has fallen,” Lang said during a speech, referring to the mass-migration of Muslims into Europe over the past few decades.
At one point, protesters walked the streets away from the East Plano Islamic Center, and were faced with counter-protesters as well. Plano Dialogue Police was also present as tension between counter protesters and protesters increased.
The Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) commented the following in response to the protests, alleging certain Texas government officials of fomenting extremism against Muslims.
“We applaud EPIC and members of the Plano Muslim community for the discipline and patience they have shown in advance of this hate rally,” CAIR said. “We commend local law enforcement for working with the community to keep the community safe. We encourage all elected officials to condemn the anti-Muslim extremism that Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton and others have fomented.”
