What a beautiful sight to see packed college football stadiums again. The view of thousands of Americans living free, cheering on their respective teams, doing so without fear, should give you the chills and let you know, without a doubt, this is what America needs right now.
“Jump Around” was back at Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium:
One of the most heartwarming traditions, the Kinnick Wave returned. 70,000+ fans, players, coaches and staff waving and showing support for the patients and their families at the nearby University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
This viral clip of a jam-packed Lane Stadium with “Enter Sandman” blaring through the speakers before Virginia Tech took on and provided one of the biggest upsets of college football’s opening weekend should give you the satisfaction of knowing that college football collectively announced that living in fear of COVID is officially over.
Another tradition that screams freedom after years of being told to stay inside and watch games from your dorm room was Texas A&M’s, Midnight Yell:
And when your team wins their first game since 2019, you rush the field, not worrying about if someone has a mask or whether they’re vaccinated or not. You get out there and celebrate with the players and coaches. Congrats, Kansas.
Finally, nothing will make you feel more patriotic than a stadium decked out in our nation’s colors: red, white and blue. Texas A&M re-created the famous Red, White and Blue football game on Saturday at Kyle Field to remember the upcoming 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Well done, college football. You are the standard that all sports should hold to. If I were the NFL, I’d be taking notes.
